Letter from the Rector – March 2013

Politicians and others often claim, sometimes with truth, that they seek ‘to serve the people’. We use the idea of people in the abstract in lots of different ways, ‘people don’t like change’, ‘people like us’ – which is often actually code for ‘me’ anyway. We generalize about groups of people, ‘young people wouldn’t do that anymore’, ‘people in towns’, ‘people in the countryside’ … (more…)

Letter from the Bishop – March 2013

In St. John’s Gospel there is the story of a woman, who was caught in the act of adultery, being brought to Jesus. We are told that his response to her accusers was to bend down and write with his finger in the ground.  There is often speculation as to what he wrote, (more…)
